Wraysbury Primary School
After School Club
Staines
About the setting
Our After School Club at Wraysbury Primary School was established in June 2011. We care for children aged 4 to 11 years from Wraysbury Primary School.
Operation Times
The club opens for business at 3:00pm. Children from Reception and KS1 are collected from their classrooms by a member of our staff when the first school bell rings. Children from KS2 and KS3 are released by their teachers when the second bell rings and walk down to our area on their own. To ensure the children arrive safely, a playworker will stand at the entrance of our area while the school’s exit gates are manned by school staff. The club closes at 6pm with parents able to collect at any point prior to this time.

Space and Environment
Our registration area and snack room are based in the Kitchen of the KS1 block which is next to the school field. We also have access to the Studio in the KS1 block, the main school hall as well as both the infant and junior playgrounds. We are also able to use the ICT suite and Eco-Area on certain afternoons.

Provision
Our aim at Wraysbury After School Club is to challenge the engineering focussed minds we care for. In addition to the many construction-based activities we provide for children to choose from, the spacious and varied outdoor environments ensure the children are able to engage in plenty of active play.
Although our play curriculum emphasises the natural environment and engineering-based activities, we also include messy/sensory play, ICT time and creative areas. To promote the natural curiosity of the children’s minds, Wraysbury After School Club employs a variety of methods such as a question of the day, feeling’s board and a daily competition.
Additionally, to promote teamwork within the club and stay within our Harry Potter theme, each child is given a Sorting Quiz and put into a House at the beginning of the year. As we understand the value of family time, we encourage and work with children to get reading and homework completed during After School Club.

Parent access to the club
Parents and/or carers are authorized to park in the unmarked bays in the school car park. If the car park is unavailable, parking is available on the surrounding roads. Entrance to school grounds is through the gate at the back of the school car park.

The code to open the gate will be supplied once the registration process is complete. Parents and/or carers will then need to walk around to The Gap Club area in the KS1 building to sign their children out.
